Marriott's Mai Khao Beach, Phuket Thailand

Given the number of people reading my blog (If any), I guess this wouldn't go far but what-the-heck, let's do it anyway because as they say that "Treasures are reserved for the few that has the will to find it".
I have been in Singapore since July 2000 and has stayed in a number of rented places as follow:
Yr2000 Commonwealth Drive
Yr2001-2004 Jurong West Ave 1 (More precisely Jurong West St 42)
Yr2005-2006 Bukit Merah View
Yr2007-Present Serangoon North Ave 1
Prior to my current residential, I have never known my neighbours at all and mind you, that's 6years+! Thank God that my current neighbour, the Kheng family of 3 are good neighbours. The soft-spoken Uncle George is the father who is still working as a senior teacher in a local primary school despite being 61 this year (He just celebrated his birthday a few days ago). Auntie Cecilia is the full time house-wife cum mother of Teochew Peranakan descend. She took pride in maintaining the cleanliness of her house and trust me when I say you won't find a speck of dust in her house. Gerald is the young and modern son who is currently pursuing an hons degree with the Singapore Management University (SMU) and is due to graduate in end of 2010. Gerald is going steady with Joanna (JoJo) who is currently seeking a place in the NIE, which will pave her way to become a teacher one day. This family would often bring us out for makan and stuffs regularly and to cut things short, they treated us as part of the Khengs clan.

Just yesterday, Uncle George and Auntie Cecilia has decided to upgrade their Marriott Vacation Club membership and was given a promotional 8D7N stay in Marriott's Mai Khao Beach Club Resort. As they has already been to Phuket, they are going to let go of the package at a very reasonable price and here is the reason why this blog was being posted.

Let's explore a little bit about this resort shall we?

Marriott’s Mai Khao Beach is located proximate to the JW Marriott Hotel and Marriott’s Phuket Beach Club near the renowned Mai Khao beach in Thailand. Mai Khao’s golden sand stretches many kilometers besides the Andaman Sea and is Phuket’s longest beach.

Mai Khao (Sounded like "don't cry" in hokkien)

The spacious Marriott’s Mai Khao Beach Villa offers 2-bedroom, a full kitchen, living and dining area. The Masterbed room comes with 1 King size bed and the guestroom with 2 queen size bed, which could accomodate 6 - 8 pax.

The highlight of the masterbed room is that it comes with an obscenely big bathtub, which could allow 2 person to soak at the same time (Emmm~~).

Each room has their own satellite TV and is air-conditioned (Don't they nowadays?). More info can be obtained from the hotel website.

HOW MUCH WILL IT COST?

Each of these villas cost a whopping USD289-333/night, which will easily cost USD2,000+ (approx. S$3,000) for a 8D7N package! So whats the good stuff here? Uncle George and Auntie Cecilia is willing to part with the 8D7N package at only S$1,700!!! Supposed that 6 people opt to go for the trip, it will only cost S$41/night per pax!!! That is S$1,700 shared by 6 people divided by 7 nights. Isn't that sweet or what? A villa run by the prestigiously world renowned Marriott Group, which is synonymous to high service quality and a terrific location with breath-taking shoreline and sunset at only S$41/night, there's really nothing more to ask right?

WRONG! PER NIGHT RATE COULD BE CHEAPER STILL!

The management allow 8 pax max to stay in the villa and if such, that will make the cost goes down even more to S$31/night per pax!!! To top up the ice-cream with emlted chocolates and roast almond/peanuts, the 8D7N package is valid anytime from now till 4th March 2010. Now that's what I call a sweet sweet bargain. Great for a family retreat or perhaps TWO families' family retreat.

WHAT'S THE CATCH?
Well, the catch as far as I could see, is that the 8D7N package can't be split into a few trips. It must be taken as a string, which is to say that even if you go for 4D3N, the remaining days will be forfeited. Well, that would not be a problem, would it? IF 8D7N is too long for your family, get someone else to take the remaining days. But of course, taking the full 8D7N will be the best choice.

WHY DON'T YOU GO FOR IT?

Simple, I have also upgraded my Marriott Vacation Club membership and have the same 8D7N package too ;) but am willing to part with it to willing party too as I have many trips coming up this year with Bali at the end of March, Gem Island at the end of May, June camp during mid June and the highlight of the year being a 17D16N trip to Paris/Rome/Milan in mid November (Yes, very cold then). So that's pretty much all the trip that will take place in 2009.
So treasure hunters, if you manage to find this page by chance or otherwise, just leave a comment and your contact so that I could reply to you the soonest possible. Happy holiday!
