First Family Outing in ECP

23 May 2009

This will be the very first time our family (Dana, Bon Bon and I) had a family outing together and the venue we have chosen is East Coast Park. The idea was really a last minute conjuration as Dana has been lamenting that weekends are boring and yada yada yada. We kinda explored what we could do and stuffs E.g. a short trip to Bintan/Batam or maybe a 3D2N island trip and the likes. After checking the internet for lodgins and all, we realised that it is too time consuming to go places that are far and also costly (we have a trip to East Malaysia around the corner i.e. 24-26th May 2009 and nother trip from 20-23 June to Phuket).
We did called Dana's cousin, Brian (DogLover) and asked what is his plan for Saturday. He mentioned something about bringing his furkids DoMo for swimming but disclaimed that it might be early in the morning and further counter-disclaimed that the plan might not happened as he is tired and likely not to be able to wake up early... Can you make up your mind already? So I just told Dana to not count on that and added "Why don't we just settle for East Coast Park and at the same time can bring Bon Bon for a swim?". Dana seemed to like the idea, so ECP is the place on saturday! [Come to think of it, I have never brought my wife to East Coast Park to Pak Toh before :p]

4 of us (Dana's cousin Diana and herself + Bon Bon + mua) make our way to ECP around 5pm by a cab and man, I tell you, Bon Bon is really a pain whenever we took him for a ride in a cab. This little bugger whinned, barked, breathed loudly and frigid in the cab! The longer the journey, the more the agony! For those potential dognapper out there, beware that this lil dog is not worth the keep due to this! So you have been warned!
After an agonizing 15mins+, we've finally reached ECP! So on came the leash and the adventure started for Bon Bon here. He has never been to such a vast 'playground' before and thus he's pretty curious about his surrounding. We proceeded straight to the beach area where it is safest without people cycling, skating and whatnot. This is not the first time Bon Bon felt sand on his cute paws but his initial reaction was truly priceless. When he stepped on the soft sand, he was shock and quickly retrieved his paws and took a reverse jerk simultaneously as though he has been electrified! Chillerz around that area had a good laugh at that reaction and so did I. We tried getting him to step on the sand again but he refused and struggled with us. Seeing his reluctance, we gave in and decided to just take him for a walk around the park.

After a wee moment, we tried again and make (Read 'forced') him on the sand by guiding him via the leash. He is a little uncomfortable, but after a couple of minutes, he is happily trodding on the soft sand and yes, that is only skirmish, the real plan is to bring him INTO the water! Muahaha!

We managed to get him into the water or rather I managed to throw him into the water to let him have a swim. He is pretty good at it but jsut a wee bit too timid. Before his paws even touched the water, he is already frantically paddling away in his doggy style ala Bon Bon. I tried placing him in the shallow water a few times to let him get used to swimming and he apparently did quite well. I called it a day after a few try (Also due to the poor thing shivering like nobody's business, which I guess is fear more than cold) and planned to bring him here again.

After the swim, he hanged out a lil bit more on the park and had our dinner there. Bon Bon received plenty of attention there with people quipping "Oh, sucha cute Chihuahua~!!!" for the ladies, the younger men "Hey look, a Chihuahua!", and the not so smart ones "I am 100% sure that is a chihuahua" to the doubters "It has to be a chihuahua!" even after we told them that it is a Pomeranian that has just undergone a complete shave. But above all, Bon Bon has made lots of friends in ECP from the minute to the big ones! Throughout the outing, Bon Bon has met GRs, Husky+Collie mix, JRTs, Shih-tsu, schnauzer and japanese spitz. But one friend that Bon Bon has made the most are ...

Drum roll please~!

They are the smallest friend that Bon Bon has met!

And the award goes to....

The Chihuahua!!!!

Nahh~It is actually.... Drum roll!

The TICKS!!! ["AIIYYYIEEEE~~!!!" Dana screamed]

Arrrgghgh~~!!!! While both Dana and myself are away, my sis and housemates found plenty of ticks on Bon Bon! When we returned, Dana gave Bon Bon a good shower and applied vinegar to Bon Bon's body and dry it with a hairdyer. The smell got the ticks so irritated we started seeing ticks everywhere on the floor... shessh~ Just the sight of the ticks makes me felt itchy all over... We will do the vinegar treatment again daily just to ensure the ticks will fall out from Bon Bon's body. Can someone tell me, what is the purpose that TICKS are created???
